Off Duty Heating and A/C is the second generation of a family trade. Bryce was raised in it, put ten years of hands-on work under his belt, and built Off Duty to carry the standard forward: show up when he says he will, explain the problem to the point, and charge a fair price for work that holds. That standard has not moved. Customers around Burnet keep writing reviews about those exact three things, which is how we know it is being kept.
Heating and cooling in the Hill Country is its own animal. Limestone heat radiating into the evening, lake humidity off Buchanan and LBJ, winter fronts that drop forty degrees in an afternoon. Are you really open 24 hours?
Yes. The phone line is answered around the clock, every day of the year. After-hours calls go to the on-call tech, which most of the time is Bryce himself. If your AC dies on a July night or your heat quits during a freeze, you call, we answer, and we get a truck to you. We built the company around that promise because the old shops around here would make you wait until Monday. Weekend calls, holiday calls, two-in-the-morning calls, they all get the same response: a real person, a straight answer about timing, and a tech who shows up when he said he would.
What does being a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor get me?
It is Mitsubishi’s top contractor tier, and it is earned with factory training, not bought. For you it means the ductless system gets installed to factory spec, and it means your equipment carries the extended Diamond warranty, up to 12 years on parts and compressor instead of the standard coverage. If a shop that is not Diamond certified installs the same unit, you get a shorter warranty on the exact same equipment. Around the lakes, where a garage apartment, a boathouse room, or a casita often makes more sense on a mini-split than on ductwork, that credential is the difference between a system that hums for a decade and one that gets worked on every August.
Do you charge extra for nights and weekends?
Call us and we will tell you exactly what the trip costs before anyone rolls a truck, day or night. No surprise math on the invoice. We would rather explain pricing straight on the phone than print a teaser number on a website and argue about it later. Every review we have mentions fair pricing, and we intend to keep it that way.
What parts of Central Texas do you cover?
Home base is Burnet, and we run about 100 miles around it, sixteen counties worth of Central Texas. That covers the whole Highland Lakes chain, Marble Falls, Kingsland, Granite Shoals, Horseshoe Bay, and Buchanan Dam, the Williamson County corridor from Liberty Hill through Georgetown, Cedar Park, and Round Rock, Austin and Travis County, Killeen, Temple, and Belton up in Bell County, and out to San Marcos, New Braunfels, Waco, Fredericksburg, and Boerne. If you are close to that map but not on it, call anyway. Odds are we already have a customer down the road from you.
Do you handle warranty repairs?
Yes. We are authorized for JB warranty work, and as a Diamond Contractor we handle Mitsubishi warranty service as well. That means we can diagnose the failure, file the claim, and swap the covered part without you fighting the manufacturer yourself. Bring us the model and serial number and we will tell you what is covered before we start.
Do you work on commercial buildings too?
We do. Light commercial is a growing side of the company: rooftop units, package systems, ductwork, thermostat controls, and commercial refrigeration including walk-in coolers, reach-ins, and ice machines. Restaurants, offices, retail spaces, shops, and warehouses across the Burnet and Austin metro area all fit in our lane. Commercial customers get the same straight diagnosis and the same 24-hour phone line as everybody else, plus preventative maintenance agreements that keep your equipment off the emergency list in the first place.
Can you help with financing or insurance claims?
Yes on both. A full system replacement is real money, and we would rather set up payments that work than watch you limp a dead unit through another Texas summer. Ask about financing when you call and we will walk you through the options with actual numbers. On the insurance side, we handle claim assistance for storm and flood damage, document the failure properly, and work with your adjuster so the claim reflects what actually needs replacing. We did exactly that for Burnet families after the July 2025 flood.
Should I repair my old system or replace it?
Depends on the age, the failure, and the math, and we will show you all three. A ten-dollar capacitor on a seven-year-old unit is a repair, plain and simple. A compressor failure on a fifteen-year-old R-22 system is money thrown into a hole. Bryce will lay out both paths with real numbers and tell you which one he would pick for his own house. Then you decide. Nobody here gets paid a commission to sell you a system you do not need.
